Changes to my Study Programm

Our career consist of 11 semesters or 5 and a half years. For us coursing Pharmaceutical Chemistry the workload is very heavy. Every semester we have to take between six to seven different subjects, which is a lot. This turns out to be even more stressful adding that our Faculty is in debt with infrastructure and materials with us the students, we could count among these faults the lack of classrooms and even the size of them considering the quantity of students, the “aulario” doesn’t even count with hadicapped access. And when it comes to materials, in many laboatories and the technology we are taught to use comes to be very obsolete  Also, some professors act as if they were gods and have very biased evaluative methods.
Considering the teaching methods and curriculum, for the first I could say that on most courses I’ve been given a pretty good teaching, I think the only bad thing to keep in mind around this is the issue that I mentioned above, about some professors self-image. And about the curriculum I might say that Botanics and Pharmacognosy were too extent but now they both merged into just one big course, which makes much more sense since Pharmacognosy is strongly based on Botanics but it can be learnt in the way along these basic concepts. From my perspective this approach could be taken with other courses too such as General Physics I-II and Analitic Chemistry I-II with their respectives labs.

My Favorite TV show

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, but he one that I like the most is the Sitcom Friends. This show depicts a group of six friends (3 men and 3 women) on their 20’s going through many funny situations from day to day. The main characters are Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Rachel and Ross, being Joey my favourite amongst them all.
The episode that I’ve liked the most is “The one with the birth mother” (yeah, all the episodes start their name with the phrase “the one with/where…”) since here Joey is set up for a blind date with a friend of Phoebe’s, and during that date something “terrible” happaned to him! The girl took some fries from his plate… and “JOEY DOES’T SHARE FOOD”! Hahahaha, considering the traits and behaviours of Joey this phrase and the whole situation around it comes to be HILARIOUS. Oh, yeah, also Monica and Chandler were trying to adopt a baby or something, but that just ends in second plane since JOEY DOESN’T SHARE FOOD! Hahahaha sorry, my bad, it’s just that I really enjoyed all that situation and well, that’s the reason WHY it’s my favorite episode, and well it’s Joey who is the one of the big reasons why I love this program c:

Postgraduate Studies

When I finish my minor and maybe after working for a couple of years in the job that I described on my latest post I’d like to take a major on Clinical Toxicology so I could be able to consider more thoroughly possible treatments which can exert the most appropriate and least nocive effects.

I’m thinking of the possibility of taking the major here, in Chile at the University of Valparaíso since they give majors on both, Clinical Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacy so I’d have the chance to do either of those locally. On the other hand, I love the idea of traveling abroad and more if the reason of it is my professional development. Since the University of Valparaíso is just a 150 [km] away from Santiago I think that moving there for the duration of the major would be an approachable idea, so I’d mostly have presential classes and practices. But if I get the chance of studying abroad I’d like more to have a blended system, presential and distance learning so I’d be able not to leave for so much time since I love to spend time with my family here in Chile.

My Future Job

When I finish my minor, I’d like to work at Assistential Pharmacy, a job which could be considered an “office job” so it could be done mostly indoors since it’s about managing/evaluating the most efficient and cheaper treatments (and with the largest volume possible) for patients in need. I think that this kind of job would be both, demanding and exciting, the first one because it has to do directly with the life of patients and exciting because it would be a great challenge as for my intellect and my social skills.
Since this kind of job it’s generally practiced directly at a given hospital per time I wouldn’t expect traveling much because of it, but I might get the chance to do so due to negotiations that comes with the job.
To complement the charge, I’d like to take a major on Clinical Toxicology so I’d get to have a broader knowledge of the possible interactions of the drugs that we might get to acquire.

How green are you?

I’ve learnt about environmentally friendly practices mostly from documentaries and the internet. Since quite some months ago I’ve been organizing and separating most all of the recyclables from the waste that I produce to put them on the recyclable closet available on my building.

Neither I nor anyone from my family own a car. I do own a bike which I love to ride anywhere I can, though it’s been trapped at the mechanic since the beginning of the pandemic, sadly. And when it come to walking, I’m the best for taking long trips on foot.

When it comes to joining or supporting eco-organizations I just haven’t got the opportunity to do so yet. One the other hand, one of the most important things that I’ve done is changing my dietary habits. It’s been almost a year now since I’m a vegetarian, and just by doing this my carbon footprint is considerably lower than it was when I consumed meat products. Just imagine that to produce a single burger of 0,1 [kg], 2000 [lts] of water are consumed and the equivalent of 9 [kg] of CO2 are emitted as greenhouse gases. Just incomparable amounts against the average 2 [kg] of CO2 per kilogram of any vegetable.

Finally, from my perspective, I’d promote more broadly and thoroughly the use of public or not motorized transportation for things that don’t really require this kind of overuse of resources
